Bishop-Elect Cynthia E. Wesley has been a faithful and committed member of Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ, Inc. for all her adult life. Rev. Wesley was ordained and elevated into ministry July 1992, under the Pastorate of Rev. Eugene D. Gray, Pastor of First Church of Deliverance, where she has been a faithful member of First Church of Deliverance for over fifty years. Bishop-Elect Wesley has also faithfully served under four Pastors at the First Church of Deliverance. Bishop-Elect held numerous leadership positions including President of the Minister's Board and conducted the weekly 8:00 pm services. Bishop-Elect Wesley also sang in the Adult Choir and trained new ministers until called to her current Pastorship. In July 2009, Bishop-Elect Wesley founded God's Universal House of Blessings Spiritual Church in Sauk Village, where she currently serves as Senior Pastor.


The Bishop-Elect Wesley has held various leadership positions at the National and the State level. These positions include, but are not limited to, Secretary to the Women's Depart; Facilitator of Female Pastor's Workshops; appointed by Archbishop L. Posey as Teacher for the Educational Summits, (10+ years); Clarence H. Cobbs #2 District Supervisor; State Supervisor of Women; State Overseer; and finally Bishop-Elect. Bishop-Elect Wesley currently serves as a member of the Examining board under the leadership of Bishop Antonio P. Gibson.


The Bishop-Elect Wesley is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute and holds numerous degrees, including the following: Associates Degree in Social Work from Prairie State University; Bachelor of Social Work from Governors State University; and a Master of Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary. In 2019, Bishop-Elect Wesley authored her first book, but not the last one, entitled "Prayers of the People." Bishop-Elect Wesley is a Certified Bereavement Counsellor and a Red Cross Trauma volunteer.


When the Katrina Disaster struck New Orleans, Bishop-Elect Wesley took her ministry to New Orleans, Louisiana and then to Springfield IL as an advocate for educational equalities. Her ministry continued as she marched for social Justice and safer neighborhoods with Pastors United for Change. Bishop Wesley indeed has demonstrated servanthood in ministry by feeding the hungry, Clothing and sheltering the homeless, ministering to the sick and advocating for those oppressed. “For God has truly anointed her with the Holy Spirit and with power, and she went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Her.” (Acts 10:38 KJV). In 2015, Bishop spearheaded the radio ministry entitled "Church without Walls," a radio talk show inspired by the late Archbishop A. Leonard Poesy.


Bishop-Elect Wesley loves to travel, and she has traveled across the United States, Cuba, and as far away as Israel. During her trip to Jerusalem, she was the only African American female and was so greatly esteemed by her peers that she was chosen to preach the Gospel in the Coenaculum at Mount Zion, Jerusalem.


In November 2009, Bishop-Elect Wesley retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years of dedicated service. The Bishop-Elect is the mother of 3 children, Grandmother of 10 and great grandmother of 8. She declares that raising her children and grandchildren have been her hardest job of all! Bishop-Elect Wesley has been blessed to see many firsts in her life. Today, by the grace and glory of God, in conjunction with the Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ Consecrated by Apostolic Succession, she will enjoy another first to the office of +Bishop.


Finally, it is her desire that we believe God for she says she knows, that she knows that she really does know that, “They that wait upon Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount with wings as an eagle, they shall run and not get weary they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31 KJV)
